Update: Spring Snow Causes Snoqualmie Pass to Close

Final update 9:00 p.m.: I-90 Westbound is now open. Chains are mandatory on all vehicles except AWD/4WD.


Update 6:35 p.m.: Crews are still clearing a number of westbound collisions, which remain closed at Mile 106 near Ellensburg.

They hope to have an update at 8 p.m. on a possible reopening time. The east direction is open.


Update 5:05 p.m.: I-90 Eastbound is now open at Mile 34 near North Bend.

Crews are clearing westbound vehicles between closure points before reopening at Mile 106 near Ellensburg.

From 4:00 p.m. on Saturday April 9eI-90 Snoqualmie Pass is closed eastbound at milepost 34 near North Bend and westbound at milepost 106 near Ellensburg due to collisions.

According to the Snoqualmie Pass Twitter account, they are trying to bring in emergency vehicles and tow trucks to clear up the collisions.

The Pass’s Twitter account has been messaging about this storm for several days, warning motorists up to a foot of snow and gold to come prepared with warm clothes, blankets, food and medicine if the pass is firm.

Many motorists report being stuck in traffic in very cold weather.
