Tracking the weekend winter storm threat that could impact the region from Friday to Saturday

All eyes are on a winter storm that threatens to bring snow to the DC area and heavy accumulations to parts of Maryland’s east coast and other eastern coastal regions.

FOX 5’s Mike Thomas says questions remain Thursday about the path the storm will take. Currently, it looks like the most noticeable snowfall will occur well east of Washington, DC along the coastal areas of Virginia and Maryland.

If the trail stays east as planned, a one inch overlay could be seen in DC If the trail moves west, snow accumulations of up to three or four inches may occur in the district .

Flurries could begin Friday evening and continue through Saturday morning.

Thursday saw a chilly early morning in the DC area with temperatures nearing 20 degrees in the district and in the single digits in parts of the surrounding metro area.
