Local meteorologists are warning Massachusetts residents that a strong coastal storm is likely to have significant winter impacts on the region on Saturday.

The National Weather Service said Wednesday that confidence is growing that southern New England is about to experience a “high-impact winter storm.”

The service’s forecasters said “all eyes” were watching the “powerful” storm, which they said was expected to affect at least part of the region Friday evening through Saturday evening with “heavy snowfall, high winds , coastal flooding and dangerous seas”. .”

“There is still some uncertainty about the storm’s exact track and intensity, which will directly impact snowfall amounts and other storm details,” the forecasters wrote.
