Cold weather could put a damper on early school vacation plans. The western and central plateau is expected to experience most of the snowfall, which is expected to fall up to 100 meters by late Friday. Senior meteorologist Simon Lewis said the Lyell Expressway was one of the roads expected to be affected. “Since this precedes school holidays and could get crowded, we have issued a road weather alert for it,” Lewis said. “We expect calmer weather for the remainder of the weekend, although it will remain quite cold.” Tasmanian Police Inspector Brian Edmonds said the advice for all motorists is to slow down, take your time and drive in the conditions. Walkers have been advised to expect unsafe conditions to occur in parts of the Western and Central Plateau Districts. Our reporters work hard to provide local and up-to-date news to the community.
